Charleston Distance Run Offers Flat, Fast 5K

Flat and fast is what every runner dreams of in picking a race.
The Charleston Distance Run 5K course offers the perfect opportunity to establish a new personal best. Starting on Kanawha Boulevard at the West Virginia Capitol, the flat route rolls along the river and downtown streets before finishing at the University of Charleston Stadium's Laidley Field.
WCHS and WVAH are proud sponsors of the 41st annual Distance Run. The CDR is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 and features the 5K run, 15-mile run, three-person 15-mile relay and noncompetitive 5K and 10K walks.
Entry fees for the 5K run are $30 by Aug. 21 and $40 by 9 p.m. Aug. 30. Participants receive a pre-race pasta dinner, long-sleeve technical shirt and goodie bag, finisher's medal, post-race refreshments and can compete for cash awards and prizes.
