2017 Colors for a Cure has been Postponed

Colors for a Cure is more than just a 5k, it is a communityfest and a time for us to all come together in a united fight against cancer! While we never hoped we would have to do this, we regret to inform you that we will be postponing the 2017 Colors for a Cure 5k event due to rain and a chance of severe thunderstorms. Please understand that our committee went through great discussion and thought this decision through, but for the best outcome of the event and the community feel and safety of our runners, walkers, volunteers, spectators, law enforcement and everyone else involved, this was the safest and best option. Our primary goal is to support cancer survivors in and around the greater Tri-State area.
With such a big decision to make and a lot to factor in, please bare with us as some answers will not be available until after the beginning of the week. The event is NOT being cancelled, just postponed to a later date. We are tentatively planning for another October 2017 date. We would like to thank the City of Huntington and the Huntington Police Department for working diligently with us on this.
After the beginning of next week we will have a definite new date and we will also re-open online registration. While some have already picked up race packets (bibs and t-shirts), we will also hold another packet pick-up before the new event. Please try to hold onto your race bibs!
Colors for a Cure is all about the community and coming together, and with the 2" rain forecast and lightening warnings, we did not feel this would be a safe environment for our participants, families, volunteers and all others involved. Had we held the event tomorrow with these storms, there would be a very low participation rate and not the community feel that our cancer survivors deserve! We hope you will be able to join us on our new date (TBA) and still come out for the entire day of tailgating, activities, dancing, running, walking and more!
